When it comes to maximum driver distance we can measure a golfers ability to transfer energy from the club head to the ball. We call this measurement Smash Factor.
With the trampoline effect of today's modern drivers, a ball is able to travel 1.5 times faster than the club speed at the moment of maximum compression. So, a perfectly struck shot with a driver will result in a 1.50 Smash Factor.
You can see that with the exact same Club Speed, a golfer with a 1.36 Smash Factor loses more than 30-yards off their drive!
So, by improving this players Smash Factor this golfer will have 3 clubs less into the green after their drive!
How do you know what your Smash Factor is?
Smash Factor is measured by a Doppler radar. We use the world's leading technology which provides the most accurate information.
How do I increase my Smash Factor?
There are several reasons that cause off-center contact that results in reduced Smash Factor. The cause will be determined along with the appropriate drills to improve your Smash Factor during a TrackMan session.

As contact moves away from the center of mass (sweet spot) the transfer of energy decreases. Note in the chart below how a golfer with the same club speed loses Ball Speed and Distance as the Smash Factor decreases.
